Schedule:
- Doors Open: 7:00 pm
- Guided Warm-up into Live Music Jam
- Doors Close: 9:00 pm
If you arrive during the warm-up, please feel free to join or start your solo practice. Please respect the warm-up and avoid disruptions.
About the Guests
Niku has been practicing Contact Improvisation for over 12 years, with roots in Contemporary Dance at the University of Calgary. Drawing from a year and a half of studying and facilitating CI across North America, he enjoys creating warm, welcoming spaces for people to explore together with intention
Usnea (Estelle) is an improv pianist who freestyles scenic whimsical melodies. A unique expression of the shared moment, collaborative with the united ecstatic energy fostered between the dancers in the room. All is welcome to come and celebrate the creative harmony shared between us all
About Monday Night Jams
Monday Night Jams is designed to be a welcoming space for both seasoned dancers and newcomers to explore and deepen their practice of Contact Improvisation.
Entry Fee
$15 to $25 Entry, sliding scale – cash or e-transfer. $10 for low-income participants. Please reach out to Derek Wong if finances are a barrier for attending.

Event Etiquette
Please enter the space in silence. Before speaking, ask yourself: “Is what I’m discussing deepening my dance or distracting from it?”
Our intention is to create a safe, consensual, open, fun, and playful space grounded in deep listening and awareness. We invite you to bring generosity and respect into your interactions. Consider: What am I bringing to this space? How can I support myself and others? Am I being trauma-informed in my interactions?
Safety Policy
Zero tolerance for: predatory behavior, non-consensual touch, sexual advances, or any ambiguous intimate physical touch. This is not a space to pursue romantic or sensual exploration.
If anything inappropriate is witnessed or experienced, please speak with Derek, Tony, or another facilitator. Your concerns will be handled confidentially and with compassion.
