About the Guests
Niku Dhillon
Niku has been practicing Contact Improvisation for over 13 years, with roots in Contemporary Dance at the University of Calgary. His practice lives at the intersection of somatic listening, CI fundamentals, and the poetic expression of the unfolding dance. He enjoys creating warm, welcoming spaces for people to gather, play, and explore together.
Isabelle Fontein and Faez Shahrezaei
Isabelle Fontein and Faez Shahrezaei weave together trumpet, saxophone, vocals, and viola, to create spacious, rich, ambient tapestries of sound. Ranging from soft, subtle, vocals to playful modal jazz horns, the improvised sets ebb and pulse with the energy of the improvised dance space.
These two have been hosting events and performing live improvised sets along the coast of Canada and the US together for the last two years. Most recently they performed at the 3 day Jam into Spring on Salt Spring Island.
